Purchasing Easter items such as decorations, and baskets after the holiday has passed can save you a significant amount of money.
Many retailers offer deep discounts on Easter items in the days and weeks following the holiday. This is because they need to clear their inventory to make room for new seasonal items. By shopping off-season, you can take advantage of these sales and get Easter items at a fraction of the original cost.
For example, you can purchase Easter decorations such as tablecloths, centerpieces, and wall hangings at a discounted price after the holiday. These decorations can be stored away for use the following year, saving you money in the long run.
In addition to decorations, you can also purchase Easter baskets and candy at a discounted price after the holiday. While you may not want to hold onto the candy for a year, it can certainly be used for upcoming events or just because occassions!

DIY Easter Decorations
I love decorating my house for holidays and my kids love helping too! One of my favourite things each year is when I open up my holdiay tote and find little decorations that the kids made in previous years. They are not only great ways to save, but offer such happy memories of holidays past!
There are many DIY Easter decoration ideas that are easy and affordable to make. For example, you can create a festive Easter wreath using materials such as colorful plastic eggs, ribbon, and a foam wreath form. You can also make your own Easter garland by stringing together paper or felt cutouts of Easter eggs, bunnies, and other festive shapes.
Another DIY option is to decorate your own Easter eggs using dyes or markers. This is a great activity to do with kids and can be a fun way to personalize your Easter decorations.
In addition to decorations, you can also make your own Easter baskets using materials such as baskets, tissue paper, and ribbon. Take the DIY one step further and fill the basket with fun crafts for the kids to enjoy after their egg hunt!

Save Money Using Natural Decorations
A really fun, creative way to save money on Easter decorations is by using natural items found in your backyard or local park. Using natural decorations not only adds a unique touch to your Easter celebration but can also save you money on store-bought items. Not only does it save you money, but with cottage core being a big decor trend right now, you’ll be saving money while being trendy!
One option for natural Easter decorations is to collect branches, twigs, and flowers to create a beautiful Easter centerpiece. You can arrange them in a vase or tie them together with twine to make a rustic bouquet. Pinecones and acorns can also be incorporated into the centerpiece for a natural touch.
Another option is to use fruits and vegetables as Easter decorations. Lemons, oranges, and limes can be sliced and arranged in a clear glass vase for a colorful and fragrant display. Carrots, radishes, and other vegetables can also be arranged in a basket for a fun and unique Easter-themed centerpiece.
If you have a garden, you can also use fresh herbs and flowers to decorate your home for Easter. Lavender, rosemary, and thyme can be used to create fragrant wreaths or bouquets. Fresh flowers can be arranged in a vase or used to decorate Easter eggs.
Overall, using natural decorations for Easter is a great way to save money while adding a unique and personal touch to your celebration. So why not take a stroll through your backyard or local park and see what natural items you can incorporate into your Easter decorations?
Make Your Own Easter Treats
Making your own Easter treats can be a fun and delicious way to save money on Easter. Not only are homemade treats typically less expensive than store-bought ones, but they can also be tailored to your personal tastes and dietary needs. We have a house of picky eaters – so we often have to make our own to meet everyone’s taste buds!
There are many easy and affordable Easter treat recipes that you can try at home. For example, you can make your own Easter-themed cookies, cupcakes, or cake pops using basic ingredients such as flour, sugar, and eggs. You can also decorate them with colorful frosting, sprinkles, or candy to give them a festive touch.
Another option is to make your own Easter candy such as chocolate eggs, bunnies, or marshmallow treats. You can use simple molds and ingredients such as chocolate chips, food coloring, and gelatin to create your own unique and delicious Easter candy.
In addition to traditional Easter treats, you can also make your own healthy and affordable options such as fruit kebabs, yogurt parfaits, or granola bars. These treats are not only delicious but also provide a healthy alternative to traditional Easter candy.
Overall, making your own Easter treats is a great way to save money while still enjoying delicious and festive treats. Plus, it can be a fun activity to do with family and friends. So why not try making your own Easter treats this year and see how much money you can save?

Another option is to print out Easter gift tags for your Easter baskets or gifts. You can choose from a variety of designs and add your own personal message to make your gifts extra special.
Using free printables for Easter is not only an affordable option but also a fun way to get creative and add a personal touch to your decorations. So why not take a look online and see what free Easter printables you can find? You might be surprised at how easy and fun it is to create your own Easter decorations!
Keep It Simple
One way to keep it simple is to focus on one or two key decorations or themes. For example, you could decorate your home with a colorful Easter wreath or a few strategically placed bunny figurines. You don’t have to decorate every room or every surface to create a festive atmosphere.
When it comes to gifts, you don’t have to go overboard either. Instead of buying expensive Easter baskets filled with gifts and candy, you could create a simple basket with a few small items such as a book, a stuffed animal, or some homemade treats.
We aren’t big on having a ton of candy around, and really don’t want tons of little random toys, so we do our egg hunt a little different. Instead of finding chocolate eggs or plastic eggs filled with toys, we have a bunch of gift bags with bigger items that the kids “unlock” by finding a certain number of plastic eggs in a certain colour. They don’t know what’s in each bag, but get to open it once they find the correct amount and colour combination of eggs. They difficulty of each gift is based on what’s inside and also the individual child’s abilities (for example, our 2 year old only has to find some eggs whereas my 9 year old has to find 4 blue eggs, 9 purple eggs, 3 yellow eggs and 7 green eggs to “unlock” a gift).
By keeping it simple, you can still have a fun and festive Easter celebration while also saving money. Remember, Easter is about spending time with loved ones and celebrating the season, not about how much money you spend on decorations or gifts.
