One of the best ways to save and earn more money is through apps on your mobile device! As technology continues to grow, so do the ways available to manage your money. While there are many money saving apps out there, pin pointing money apps for Canadians can be tricky. But don’t fret! We took care of that for you!
Without further ado, here’s a list of my favourite money apps that work in Canada and pay Canadians!

Checkout 51
I have been using Checkout 51 since it was made available in Canada, and I gotta say, it’s by far one of the most reliable and profitable out there. Every Thursday, Checkout 51 uploads new offers and you have until the following Thursday at 11:59pm to redeem them (they are while quantities last, so sometimes, the really good ones are gone before then).
Every Thursday take a look at your curated list and see if there’s any offers for products that you’re going to buy. Then simply ‘clip’ the offer and after you buy it, take a picture of the receipt through the app and wait to be credited. It’s really that simple!
Also be on the lookout for non-shopping offers that pop occasionally. These tend to sell out quickly and often involve watching a commercial or completing a quick survey. They are quick and easy to do, and add a nice little bonus to your account.
As Checkout 51 is a growing platform, they are still offering referral bonuses. Normally the bonuses are for $5 a referral, but watch for the occasional $10 referral bonuses.
Once you reach $20 in savings, you can request a cheque, which typically takes 2-4 weeks to arrive.
Caddle
Caddle is a Canadian made app that was initially developed in St. Catharines. It works much the same as Checkout 51, in that you simply look at the offers each week (also updated on Thursday) and then use the app to photograph and upload your proof of purchase (receipt).
Like Checkout 51, Caddle also has survey and video offers. However, they are much more frequent and don’t run out as quickly. Caddle has also added a new daily survey which typically pays 5-10 cents and usually takes a minute or two. Be sure to sign in each day for the daily survey and try to get in early on Thursday to get other surveys before they run out.
You can also increase your Caddle earnings by referring others to the platform. Caddle pays $1 for each referral.
You can redeem your savings once your account reaches $20, and it typically takes 2-4 weeks to process.
Flash Food
This new app was created by the Loblaws company with the intention of reducing food waste. Each day (and sometimes multiple times a day) the Flash Food app is reloaded with clearance items, up to 50% off. Some items are marked down due to expiration dates; some due to package changes and some due to surplus and over ordering.
At the moment, the Flash Food app is only available for shops at Real Canadian Superstore, Loblaws and Zehrs, but if you have any of these locations nearby, be sure to watch the offers!

Moka
If you are saving up for a particular goal, or simply want to simplify your savings, Moka is the app for you!
With Moka, you simply connect a payment source (credit/debit card) to your account and then make a savings goal. After completing a brief profile, a Moka investor will make an investing portfolio recommendation to you and then you will start saving!
Every time you make a purchase with the card attached to your account, Moka will round up the change to the nearest dollar, and then once a week withdraw the money and invest it into your savings account.
There is a low monthly fee of $3 and you can withdraw your money at anytime.
Ampli
Ampli is a Canadian app that offers users the opportunity to earn cash back and/or contest entries when shopping with one of their partners. Simply connect your preferred payment card to the app, and then whenever you shop with one of their partners (in store or online), you get cash back! There are no receipts to upload, no links to click – just shop and earn! Learn more about Ampli here.
CoinOut – Canadian Registration Currently Paused
CoinOut is another app that pays your for your receipts, but the greatest thing about them is that you don’t have to buy anything in particular to get paid! They just want your receipts and to see your shopping patterns.
Seriously, you will get paid for each and every single receipt you upload.
There is a daily limit for the number of receipts that you can upload and it varies from day to day. Fortunately, you can upload receipts up to 14 days old, which gives you time to max out your dailies!
When you shop online, simply forward the email receipt to them for credit (they accept 4 digital receipts per day).
Not only does CoinOut pay you for your receipts, but you can also earn cash back by shopping through their affiliate links, and completing various other offers, such as signing up for different companies.
Of course, CoinOut also pays you when someone signs up using your link. Each referral gives you a bonus 75 cents.
Another great thing about CoinOut is that they pay in US dollars, and you can choose to receive your money through Paypal, direct deposit or as an Amazon gift card!

Receipt Hog
This Canadian app works much like CoinOut, in that it accepts almost anytime of receipt and pays you for each one. You don’t have to buy anything in particular to be rewarded, just upload your receipt!
With each receipt you upload, Receipt Hog rewards you with either coins or a slot machine token, along with entries for the monthly draw. Once you have 1000 coins in your account, you can redeem for a $5 Amazon gift card, Visa gift card or Paypal deposit.
With non grocery receipts, Receipt Hog pays out with slot machine tokens. You also get weekly slot machine bonuses when you upload receipts and they give you the chance to win more coins!
Use promo code breg8800 for 5 bonus spins when you join Receipt Hog here.
Drop
I love automated money making tools! No word of a lie, because they are just so easy. While I also love apps where I take pictures of receipts, etc., this busy mama often forgets to take the extra 30 seconds and do it. Or, I lose the receipts.
So when automated apps like Ampli, Moka, and Drop come around, my heart swoons!
When you sign up for Drop, you simply link your payment card and then whenever you shop with one of their partners, you get cash back!
That’s it. Each time you shop at one of the linked stores, you will get Drop points that can be redeemed for gift cards starting at $5 (5000 points).
And of course, you earn more through referrals! Drop gives each person who signs up with your referral link $5 to get started with, and rewards you with $5 for referring them! It’s definitely a great bonus!

Mobee
Mystery shopping was all the rage not too long ago, but now it’s not something I hear too much about in the side hustling communities. Nevertheless, there’s still great mystery shopping gigs out there.
One is through the app Mobee. This super easy to use app pulls up multiple mystery shopping gigs that don’t take long to do it at all.
The gigs are displayed on a map, which is super convenient for you to plan and knock off multiple trips at once.
When you have a bit of time on your hands and want to make some quick extra money, open the app and it will pull up all the available gigs nearby. To get the details of the gigs, simply tap on the button that says “View”. Once you do this, you’ll get important information about the task including a general idea of what it entails and approximately how long it will take to complete.
Each task will also list how many points it will pay for successful completion. You can then redeem those points for your choice of charitable donations or gift cards.
Of course, Mobee also has a referral program offering 300 points for each friend you refer!
Join Mobee here with code 1QX9 and start getting paid to visit stores!
Google Rewards
Are you an Android user? Do you buy things from the Play Store? Then Google Opinion Rewards is a great app for you!
Simply install the app and sign up, then watch for the trophy notification to pop up. When this happens, click on it (or open the app) and there will be a survey for you. These surveys are super short (usually taking less than a minute) and easy to do. Most of the surveys I’ve been offered revolve around me rating my approval of YouTube videos my kids have watched and how my experience was at the grocery store. Super easy.
Each survey gives you credit to spend at the Play Store.
Swagbucks Mobile
Do you have Swag? But seriously, have you joined Swagbucks yet? Swagbucks is the first survey/get paid to site that I joined and is still one of my favourites.
The Swagbucks app is great for you when you’re on the go. It’s easier to scroll through than the trying to work on a mobile browser and offers all the same functions as the site. Just easier to use.
If you haven’t joined Swagbucks yet, click here to join then download the app here.
Swagbucks Answer
So you’ve joined Swagbucks, right? If not, join here! Then download the Swagbucks Answer app. Personally, I use this far more than the regular Swagbucks app, because it is the best for completing surveys.
The Answer app pulls up all the Swagbucks gold surveys that are available to you and organizes them so they are easy to complete on a mobile device. This is great for when you are on the go and have a bit of time to do a survey or two. Typically, all of the surveys on the app are set up to be mobile friendly, making them so much easier to complete!
Get the Answer app here and seriously join Swagbucks here if you haven’t already!
SB Live
Once you’ve joined Swagbucks and downloaded the Answer app, the next app to download is SB Live.
If you love trivia and making money, this one’s for you!
Monday-Thursday at 8pm EST (and sometimes bonus games at other times happen), a trivia game takes place on the SB Live app. They are sometimes themed and other times completely random. The prize is usually $1000 split between all who answer the 10 questions correctly, though sometimes, the pot can go up to $2000.
It doesn’t cost anything to play, but if you get a question wrong, you can choose to buy back in with some of your Swagbucks. The buy back fee is determined by how far along in the game you are at elimination. You can only buy back in one time.
If you are eliminated (get a question wrong) you can buy back in the first time, or continue playing. Most questions after the first two give at least one Swagbuck for getting it right. So if you’re like me and suck at trivia, at least you (might) still get something.
Join Swagbucks here (seriously, what are you waiting for?!?!) and then download the SB Live app here to get paid for trivia!
So there you have it! My favourite apps that Canadians make money on! What are your favourite money making apps that work in Canada?

I’m so glad we can connect and share our money savings apps! I was able to get Swagbucks Answer and receipt hog. The others wouldn’t work in Japan. Idk if receipt hog will work but it let me download the app lol. I can’t wait to start using them! I’m always looking for easy ways to save money. Thank you!
Amazing! I hope they work for you! Swagbucks is definitely a great money maker, even if Receipt Hog doesn’t work! Good luck 🙂
Hi, I been using swagbucks for a couple of months but didn’t know about the other apps related to it. Thank you for all the valuable info. On the other hand I just downloaded receipt hog thanks to your blog and it doesn’t allow me to put a Canadian address. Does Receipt Hog really work for canadians? If so what am I doing wrong?
That’s very strange! Receipt Hog is available for Canadians. I would suggest contacting support: https://receipthog.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
